Ways To Connect With Nature

Ways To Connect With Nature

Recently, I have been spending a lot more time in nature, whether it be going for a walk with the dogs or being in the garden. I wanted to write a post today on different ways to connect with nature, because, for me, being in nature is so wonderful and gives me a feeling of calm as well as gratitude for what is around me.

Bringing the outside in

Something that I love about nature is the way you can bring it into your homes. Whether you are picking flowers from the garden (as my Mum always does), growing some herbs in the kitchen or getting some houseplants to put around your home, there are so many lovely ways to bring the outside in. My sister recently started a ‘kitchen-garden’ (as she calls it), where she is growing some lovely flowers which is another great way of connecting with nature in our homes.

Gardening

This is a new-found love of mine. A few weeks ago, my Mum and I spent the afternoon gardening and I absolutely loved it. We spent the time chatting away whilst we planted new things all around the garden. It was such a hands-on way to connect with nature and I really enjoyed the afternoon.

Photography

Something that I really love to do when out in nature is to take some pictures, whether that be on my phone or on my camera. I find that when I have an eye out for things that would make a nice picture, it makes me recognise the beauty of what is around me that little bit more. I might notice a lovely flower or the pretty clouds in the sky in a way I may have easily missed otherwise. I also love to have these pictures to look back on as another way of appreciating the nature around me.

Going for a walk

One of the main ways I connect with nature on a regular basis is going for a walk. Not only is walking a great way to get some light exercise which is of course beneficial for us, it is also a wonderful way to appreciate the lovely pockets of nature that are around us. You may walk to a park, or through a forest or by some lovely fields. Wherever you like to walk, doing so can be a lovely way to connect with nature.

I would love to know in the comments; what are the ways that you connect with nature?
