HRH The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle | Inspirational People

I have decided to start a section on my blog where I write about people who inspire me.
It always amazes me that I am able to be inspired to such a degree by someone I have never had the pleasure of meeting. Lucky for me, there are so many amazing people and more specifically women out there who I can look up to and be inspired by. I believe in life it is so important to lift other people up, and so this is essentially what this section of my blog is going to be - a space on my little corner of the internet where I will chat about inspirational people. Today, and one of my ultimate inspirations, is The Duchess of Sussex, HRH Meghan Markle.

Like many, I was introduced to Meghan Markle on Suits, a very popular programme based around a law firm, where Meghan Markle played a paralegal. More recently, as everyone will be aware, the Duchess of Sussex has become a member of the Royal Family. Anyone who knows me know that I love the Royal Family, and to find out Meghan was going to be a part of that was wonderful. There are many reasons that Meghan Markle is an inspiration to me, and I wanted to share that in a post today.

The Tig

For those of you who may not know, for nearly 3 years The Duchess of Sussex had a lifestyle website called The Tig which she once described in an interview as ‘an extension of the things that I love’. She would write about lifestyle, travel, fashion and often had guests on the blog who she would interview in a ‘Tig talk’ post. Blogging is something that is a huge passion for me, and to see someone so inspirational be similarly passionate about her blog gives me a real sense of motivation. The Tig was unsurprisingly a success, and, despite it no longer being live, is a site that undoubtedly brought positivity to many people.

Her work with women

Having read a lot about what the Duchess of Sussex has achieved in her life so far, I was hugely inspired by her work for the benefit of other women. Meghan was a feminist at a young age, where at 11 she was able to change the words of a TV advert to reduce the sexism that was evident in the commercial by writing a letter to those who were able to help make a change (including the then First Lady Hilary Clinton). From there, she went on to become the UN Women’s Advocate For Political Participation and Leadership. This is such an inspiration to me as it shows her care and encouragement of women not just who she knows personally, but around the world. As a 19-year-old feminist myself, having someone to look up to who proud to be a woman and a feminist is a complete inspiration for me.

Intelligence and Care for Others

Something that is a constant inspiration to me from The Duchess of Sussex is her interest in others, her caring nature and her motivation to help those who she meets. She seems to approach the important things she works on with such positivity and intelligence, in a way that she is able to help others whilst also bringing them a sense of optimism and fun. I am truly encouraged by this and find it inspiring in the areas I would like to help others and spread awareness such as mental health and well-being. Having intelligence and caring for others is a wonderful combination, and one that The Duchess of Sussex clearly holds.

There are so many points of inspiration that I take from The Duchess of Sussex, and a lot that I haven’t written down in this post because it would become way too long haha. I am constantly encouraged and inspired by Meghan Markle and I can’t wait to see the positive impact she is able to make with those who she works with in the future.

I would love to know in the comments; who is an inspiration to you?
