My Goals for January 2019

2019… it has come around so fast. I am quite excited to have a new year to push me to be motivated and write down my goals. I think that, even though this can be done at any time of the year, I do like the fact that a new year feels like a fresh start and a good excuse to work on new things. With that being said, I want to start the year as I mean to go on and write down monthly goals. I would encourage people to do this, because it really helps me to refocus each month and track where I am at.

• Make healthier choices •

I am often guilty of eating unhealthy things because ‘it is quicker’, or not exercising because ‘I have other things to do first’. This month I want to try and make healthier choices. With that being said, I don’t like the idea of feeling guilty for occasionally eating something unhealthily (for example). So, I am going to take a relaxed approach to being healthy, and just work towards making healthier decisions such as drinking more water and exercising a little more often. This way, I can be relaxed about it but also know that I am making a little extra effort to be healthier.

• Be more organised •

I am heading back to start term 2 of university in a couple of weeks, and so want to make sure I am more organised. Doing little things like having a folder for each module or dedicating a day (Saturday) to writing blog posts, means that I can keep on top of things and have more of a routine with my organisation. I think this will really help me in January and make more ultimately more relaxed.


• Take more photographs •

As well as going out and about more with my camera for my blog pictures, I also want to take more pictures with friends and family and bring my camera pretty much everywhere I go. I love looking back at pictures I have taken of not only special occasions, but also the more mundane things – and so this is something I would love to make more of an effort to do in January.

• Spend less time on social media •

I have mentioned this before on my blog, but I was very shocked recently after having turned on my ‘screen time’ setting and seen how much time I spent on social media. It made me realise that this needed to change. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love social media, I think that there are so many inspiring people online to follow. But, as we all know, being on social media all the time is not great for us. So, this month I want to spend less time on social media and more time being present. For example, rather than scrolling through my phone first thing in the morning, I want to read a few chapters of a book, and rather than being online when I’m with others, I want to have more conversations with those around me.
