Music Monthly Favourites | July 2019

This month has been SO lovely. The weather has been absolutely amazing recently. The day I am writing this it is reaching 31°C - which I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced before in the UK. July has been full of seeing friends, enjoying the sun and of course listening to lots of music. As per, I thought I would sit down towards the end of the month and jot down the music I have been loving throughout July!

I’ll Be Seeing You - Billie Holiday

If you’ve seenThe Notebook, you will probably know this song (it is the scene where Noah and Alli dance in the street). I have always known this song from having seen the movie, but for some reason this month I have really enjoyed listening to it. I love ‘old school’ music, and this song is so beautiful and peaceful to listen to. Also, Billie Holiday’s voice is amazing!

1+1 - Beyoncé

Before writing this post, I was trying to search my mind for where I found this song in July, and I honestly have no idea haha. I think it might have been from a Song Association video uploaded to Elle Magazine’sYouTube channel, because I have been watching so many of those this month. Anyway… I LOVE this song and can’t believe I hadn’t heard it before. Every time I come across a Beyoncé song that I don’t know, I am always struck by her pure talent - I mean she is incredible. I also watching a live performance of this song by Beyoncé and it was amazing. Huge fan of this song in July.

Out Of Your Mind - Stafford Galli

Earlier this month, I went to see Stafford Galli at Conisbrough Festival. The lead singer/songwriter is my Uncle (Martin), and so I have listened to his music since I can remember. I absolutely loved seeing this song live. Everyone was in such great spirits and every time I listen to this song it takes me back to earlier this month dancing with the rest of my family and having a lovely time!

Thunder Road (Live at the Roxy Theatre, W.Hollywood, CA - October 1975) - Bruce Springsteen

I first properly came across this song on Mickey Flannagan’s Desert Island Discs, but this month I discovered this live version which I potentially prefer to the original. It is completely acoustic, and I really enjoy singing along to it and being able to really listen to Springsteen’s voice. Bruce Springsteen is another voice that I have always listened to and finding new versions of songs that I love is amazing!

I think I will stick to 4 favourites this month. Let me know in the comments what music you have been loving throughout July 2019.
