Music Monthly Favourites | April 2019

It’s that time again where I sit down to write down my music monthly favourites.
I love sitting down to write these posts. Music is something I listen to pretty much at all times haha, and so I love finding new music to add to my different playlists. So, without further ado, here are my Music Monthly Favourites for April 2019.

Beyoncé Lemonade

Earlier this month, I ordered the Lemonade album - finally! I had wanted to get it for so long and was so excited to order it. This month has been a big Beyoncé month, from the Homecoming documentary on Netflix (amazing by the way!) and of course the live album and Lemonade album being released on all streaming sites. So, with all of those things combined, I have been listening to a lot of Queen Bey this month and loving it. My fave songs on the Lemonade album are; Pray You Catch Me, Sandcastles, Freedom (feat. Kendrick Lamar), Daddy Lessons, Hold Up, Don’t Hurt Yourself (feat. Jack White) … okay I’ve just realised I’m listing nearly the whole album haha!

Always Alright - Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes are a band whose music seem to appear in lots of programmes on TV, and I always find myself googling what the songs are when I hear them. This song is really upbeat, and I love the lead singer’s voice.

Phrygian Knights - Stafford Galli

This is the debut album by my Uncle’s band from 1994 which was released on Spotify earlier this month. I have listened to this album since I was born haha, whether that be from the CD in the car or listening to my Uncle sing at family get-togethers. I love this album, and a few of my favourite songs are; Whisky Drinkin’ Soldier, Lost in Reason (Las in Line), Lazy Beds, Walking in the Rain... I again could list the whole album haha.

I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You) - Aretha Franklin

I came across this song from a video of Jenifer Hudson singing it on The Voice as a judge. I googled what the song was straight away and have been listening to it since. I, like many others, love Aretha Franklin’s voice, and it is no different in this song.

La Vie En Rose - Lady Gaga

This is a song from the movie A Star Is Born that is one of my favourites. It is from the scene where Bradley Cooper’s and Lady Gaga’s characters first meet one another. It is such a great song and Lady Gaga’s voice is absolutely amazing as per! I also really like that the whole song is in French, it’s really lovely to listen to.

So, that is it for this month. This month I have been listening to albums a lot as opposed to one-off songs, and I have really enjoyed appreciating a whole album this way.
