University Winter Ball 2018

University Winter Ball 2018

I am writing this blog post covered in blankets with my dog Stan fast asleep next me and ‘Made in Dagenham’ (the film) playing in the background. I have a slightly poorly dog next to me, he is getting better but is not himself. He has caught some sort of bug and is pretty sleepy today. Hopefully he will get better soon – I’m sure he will! I thought I’d write a blog post about last night because it was so much fun. I went to my first every University Winter Ball and it has made me feel so festive!

It took me quite a while to sort my outfit out for the ball. I got my trousers from Mango and I absolutely love them – they are velvet which I really like. After I found the trousers, it was quite a task to find a top that would look right with it, but eventually I found a red crop top from New Look. I paired that with a black clutch – not sure where it was from –, my sister’s necklace and some black heels from Next. It wasn’t an outfit that I would usually wear, but it was so comfy and I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.

We started off the evening by getting buses to the venue. The venue was so lovely and was decorated with so many fairy lights which made me feel so festive! It was so nice to chat to people and meet some new faces! After reception drinks and chatting, we had a 3-course meal – which was really tasty. The starter was celeriac soup – which was so nice. I definitely had too much soup and bread though haha, I was almost full before the main came out. For main we had a full Christmas dinner – turkey, pigs in blankets and all. That was really tasty too and again made me feel so festive haha! And then I can’t really explain what dessert was haha, I think it was called a ‘chocolate bomb’ but can’t be sure. It was really nice, but I was so full from everything else that I couldn’t finish it!

For the rest of the night, we were at the venue dancing, chatting and meeting a few new faces before we headed to a club afterwards. It’s really nice now that I am starting to get to know a few more people at uni – it means that going out is more fun because I can have a few more people to chat to and it’s always fun to see who is out.

I really enjoyed the night. It was so nice after having just finished my essays to have a fun evening with my friends. I would definitely say that if your university has Balls, 100% go because it’s such a great place to make more friends, have fun with people you already know and eat some nice food. It was a really fun night and I’m so glad I went.

I would love to know in the comments; do you have anything exciting planned over the festive season?
